An Evening With Micah Leydorf–
To prepare for our evening with local author Micah Leydorf this Thursday, we asked her a few questions about her new book!
What brought you to writing fiction?
I’m a connector. I care passionately about relationships and community building. Stories have incredible power to unite, convey truth, and build community. So that is what led me to transition to fiction—the desire to convey truth and connect people in a way that non-fiction cannot.
Who is your target audience for this book?
In some ways this book is both a love letter to and a critique of the modern American church. It appeals instantly to women, Christians, and fans of C.S. Lewis but the target audience is broader than that. The story is an invitation into discussion with anyone who desires to think a little more deeply about the spiritual reality than undergirds our ordinary lives in 21st-century America.
What are you looking forward to at the author event?
I hope to see old friends and meet new at the Commonplace event and introduce them to this story but even more, I hope to connect them with one another. There will be sign-ups at the event for groups around the city to meet and discuss the book together. I fervently hope this story will bring people together and start conversations about these themes and truths. We need others to help see ourselves and process truth. We were not meant to be alone.
